EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Come meet the leaders and startups of MITdesignX, a venture accelerator program in the MIT School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) dedicated to design innovation and entrepreneurship. MITdesignX empowers students, faculty and researchers to build new business ventures and forward-thinking solutions designed to address critical challenges facing the future of design, cities and the human environment.

The event will include inspiring presentations and an interactive workshop. In addition, we will have a buffet dinner and bar reception.

The evening will begin with presentations from MITdesignX faculty leaders as well as the founders of two MITdesignX backed startup ventures. Afterwards, the organizers will lead a two-hour participatory workshop in which event attendees will generate ideas to innovate and alleviate our nation’s housing affordability crisis.

WORKSHOP AGENDA:

Part 1:  Presentations + Dinner
Presentations by founders of 2 MITdesignX ventures working in the fields of housing, infrastructure, and design adaptation.

Part 2: Interactive Workshop
Two-hour workshop led by MITdesignX faculty to brainstorm and develop new ideas and defined problem statements in the realm of housing that can be used to spark new startup ventures.  The work in this session will generate a compilation of material that may be used to challenge students at MIT in future courses. In addition, we also encourage participants to develop new ventures themselves.
