Congrats to Dr. Ronald Lu, Recipient of the 2020 MITArchA Alumni Achievement Award

Originally scheduled in May during the AIA 2020 National Convention in Los Angeles, the MITArchA Alumni Achievement Award had to be rescheduled to a later date when the Convention was cancelled due to Covid-19. The silver lining of this delay is that it gave us the unforeseen opportunity to consolidate two separate award ceremonies for our honoree, Dr. Ronald Lu, FAIA, M.Arch A.S ’73. In addition to the MITArchA Alumni Achievement Award, Ronald has been recognized by the Institute for his generous contribution to the MIT Better World Campaign.

MITArchA was honored to have MIT School of Architecture + Planning Dean Hashim Sarkis and MIT Architecture Head Nicholas de Monchaux present the MIT 77 Society Medallion and MITArchA Alumni Achievement Award Plaque to Dr. Ronald Lu during a virtual ceremony on December 7, 2020 that brought together Dr. Lu’s fellow alumni, friends and family from around the world.

The MITArchA Alumni Achievement Award was created to put a spotlight on “the distinguished role models in our midst” who exemplify MITArchA’s values and vision. Ronald has not only excelled in his professional work, both locally in Hong Kong and internationally, he has been an invaluable contributor to the growing strength of our MIT alumni network. The MIT 77 Society Medallion affirms Ronald’s unwavering commitment to MIT.

Distinguished MIT alumna Marjorie Yang and MIT Course IV alumnus John Tsang, both recognized leaders in the MIT and Hong Kong communities, joined a dynamic and warm on-screen gathering of friends and family, to share their admiration for Ronald in a glowing introduction and round of congratulatory messages, underscoring the value of personal friendships formed as students under the dome at 77 Mass Ave.

We invite you to view the video recording and join us as we celebrate the achievements of distinguished Course IV alumni/ae role models who are leading the way in making a better world.

We thank the MIT Alumni Association, especially Moana Bentin and Amy Davis, for supporting MITArchA in producing this virtual event and recording.
