On November 9th, 2019, the MIT Club of South Texas and MITArchA (the MIT Architecture Alumni Affinity Group) joined forces to hold a MITArchA Architectural Tour of Houston. Led by architectural historian Stephen Fox of RIce University. The tour focused on buildings designed by Course IV alumni.
Thirty-five alumni and guests attended the all-morning bus tour that focused on Inner Houston (inside Loop 610). Alumni from many courses were represented. Stephen Fox (the tour leader) gave an enjoyable and engaging talk. He imparted a wealth of knowledge regarding Houston, local architecture, and MIT’s contribution to Houston architecture.
After the tour, many attendees stayed for a social lunch at the Goode Company Taqueria. Attendees learned a lot about the built environment in Houston, and about MIT alumni who played a part in shaping it.
